Revenue model

Six ways the club earns from one owned audience

All six streams run inside the same club world and are measured in the same place. Sponsor packages are usually the largest line and are priced per deal, so they sit outside the sizing model below.

The six streams

  • Digital membership

What it isTiered fan membership with real utility: presale windows, members-only content, community.

    Commercial driverRecurring revenue per member

  • Matchday & VIP upsell

What it isPriority windows, hospitality and experience packages pushed to the fans most likely to buy.

    Commercial driverHigher yield per seat

  • Official drops & merch

What it isLimited drops released first to the members who earned the right to see them.

    Commercial driverSell-through on launch day

  • Signed-item auctions

What it isMatch-worn and signed items auctioned to a verified, logged-in audience.

    Commercial driverSplit: 60% club · 10% charity · 30% platform

  • Sponsor packages

What it isMeasurable campaigns inside the club's own world, with reporting a sponsor can trust.

Commercial driverProvable value, higher renewal and pricing power

  • Community & charity

What it isClub-led causes that build goodwill and unlock partner CSR budgets.

Commercial driverBrand equity + partner funding

Two commercial categories — do not confuse them

Nobody should leave the finance meeting thinking Fanpodium takes 30% of season-ticket upsell or of a sponsor contract.

  • Platform-run value

StreamsSigned-item auctions, campaign-driven value routed through the platform

How Fanpodium is paidThe transparent 60 / 10 / 30 split, shown to fans and configurable per club.

  • Club-led lines

StreamsMembership, merchandise and drops, matchday and VIP upsell, sponsor packages

How Fanpodium is paidThe 30% does not apply. These are the club's own commercial lines; the platform fee is agreed separately in the contract — typically a licence fee or a per-transaction rate.

How value flows

Stated plainly, including what is not switched on.

No live payments are enabled in this build. Orders are created and held in a pending state. Nothing is charged, captured or paid out until the club's chosen payment and payout providers are connected and the club has signed off.

  1. Fan pays

Membership fee, drop purchase, matchday upsell, auction bid or donation.

  2. Payment provider

The club's chosen provider settles the transaction, minus provider fees.

  3. Split logic

Configurable per club and shown transparently to fans: 60% club, 10% named cause, 30% platform operations — for auctions and campaign-driven value.

  4. Payout

To the club's bank account on the provider's settlement cycle. The charity share is paid to the named cause and reported publicly on the club's Impact surface.

  5. Club-led lines

Membership, merch, matchday and sponsor packages settle directly to the club. The platform fee for those is per the agreement — not 30%.

Principles that do not move

  • Sponsor money does not flow through the platform by default: the club sells the package, invoices the sponsor and keeps the contract. Fanpodium supplies the measurement.
  • Points are never a currency. They cannot be bought, sold or exchanged for cash — they gate access.
  • Fulfilment obligation stays with the seller. If the club sells a signed shirt, the club ships it; the console's delivery queue tracks status per item.

Put your own numbers in

Move the two sliders to your club's reality. The model is deliberately conservative and indicative only — it is a way to size the opportunity, not a forecast or a promise.

Social following, database and matchday attendance combined.

Active members, not passive followers. 15–25% is a realistic first-year band.

Indicative annual club revenue

€4,392,000

Excludes sponsor packages, which are priced per deal and often the largest line.

  • Digital membership

    €1,296,000

    1,440 people · €900 per member / year

  • Matchday & VIP upsell

    €1,152,000

    960 people · €1,200 per buyer / year

  • Official drops & merch

    €1,344,000

    1,920 people · €700 per buyer / year

  • Signed-item auctions (club share)

    €600,000

    240 people · €2,500 per bidder / year

Illustrative model. Payments, payouts and ticket fulfilment require the club's chosen providers before any of this is billable, and no live payments are enabled in this preview build.

What the club should track instead of the estimate

Once real data exists, these are the numbers that decide whether the model is working.

  • Followers of the club world

Why it mattersThe size of the owned, reachable audience.

  • Weekly active share of followers

Why it mattersWhether the loop is habit-forming or one-off.

  • Tier distribution (Bronze → Legend)

Why it mattersWhether loyalty is deepening or flat.

  • Repeat purchase rate per member

Why it mattersThe difference between a campaign and a business.

  • Revenue per engaged fan per season

Why it mattersThe single number to put in the board paper.

  • Sponsor campaign conversion

Why it mattersThe evidence that raises package prices.

  • Retention across a losing run

Why it mattersThe real test of an owned audience.

What finance decides before go-live

We implement; the club's finance and tax functions decide.

  • Payment provider and accepted methods per market.
  • Payout entity, bank details and settlement cadence.
  • VAT and tax treatment per stream — the club's tax advisor decides, we implement.
  • Refund, chargeback and non-delivery policy per stream.
  • Named charity partners and their receiving accounts.
  • Whether the auction split stays at 60/10/30 or is negotiated.
  • Who bears provider fees on the charity share — gross or net.
  • Bidder identity and payment-authorisation requirements for high-value lots.
  • The commercial rate for club-led lines.
Straight answers

The questions clubs actually ask

30% of everything?
No. 60/10/30 applies to auctions and campaign-driven value. Club-led lines are commercially agreed separately.
Is this just another campaign tool?
No. Membership and repeat purchase are the point; the measurement exists so the club can prove it season over season.
